On Friday night, Google announced its 1st updates regarding recent webspam-fighting Penguin algorithm, well-known as Penguin 1.1. This announcement was announced by Google’s Matt Cutts, a short time ago on Twitter. Matt Cutts is calling it a “data refresh” impacts as it is below 1/10 of a percent of English-language searches.
In recent weeks, webmasters and SEOs have always been speculating that a Penguin update had been pushed out by Google, since Penguin launched back on April 24th.Penguin has been described by Google as an algorithm change that’s main intention at webspam and more particularly, “sites that we believe are violating Google’s quality guidelines.” Across the SEO industry, Penguin led to immediate outcries that come with many questions, but it makes search result better or inferior.
It wouldn’t consider reconsideration requests made via Webmaster Central, said by Google as it is an algorithmic change. On other side, if webmasters believe Penguin had hit their sites by mistake then it did setup a form for webmasters to use. Aside to that, small percentage of English searches is also affected by this Penguin’s update.
Postscript from Danny Sullivan:
There are some people, who are wondering that if they haven’t improved from this update, does that means they’ll never improve and should start over. I’d wait a bit longer before that. After Penguin 1.0 introduced, Google commented that anyone can be penalized by hit. After short period of time, it was seen that number of sites didn’t emerge to be spamming at Google but which yet had traffic drops. We can say that above assumptions may be false positive, although it is better to suppose that Google wiped out extensive envelops of links, that can be used to get benefit by some sites, but, those links lost credit of these sites.
One can say that these links weren’t penalized, but doesn’t helpful for getting much credit. It is not sure that Google confirms this or not that if anyone hit by Penguin 1.0 was penalized or not. Due to other websites were penalized, there were some sites that didn’t get much credit as before.
