Social Media Strategies for 2013 and Beyond – Part 2

Welcome to the second part of the video in which we will further explain the advanced strategies for LinkedIn and Google+.


1) Targeted LinkedIn Updates
Marketers are now able to segment updates based on company’s size, industry, job function, seniority, geography, and included/excluded company employees. With the use of these particular criteria, advertisers can publish updates right to the user’s homepage. Your company’s LinkedIn admin panel will also be given metrics to check the number of followers targeted, impressions, clicks, shares, and engagement after 24 hours. LinkedIn has seen an unbelievable 66% increase in engagement with the help of targeted ads!

2) Company Pages Makeover
Earlier, all LinkedIn’s company pages looked the same, except the company’s logo and information. The new design of the LinkedIn company pages, displays a company’s updates and any products & services more efficiently. The other features included are a different layout for jobs, cover photo and the option to display your company’s updates to the different segments of your audience.


1) Hangouts on Air
The Hangouts feature enables the online marketers to hangout with nine people, while broadcasting to a larger audience. Google automatically records and uploads it to
your YouTube account, the option which could be turned off by you. Hangouts now have a bigger business purpose and are convenient to be used for company announcements, press conferences, webinars, conferences, events and more.

2) Search Engine Updates
Google is now integrated into your Google+ search results so whenever you search for something on Google, it uses information from Google+ accounts in your results. This includes photos and updates that you or others in your network have shared. Marketers, remember that if you are looking to improve your SEO , you need to use Google+ as part of your marketing strategy.

3) Google Pages Have Become Google+ Local
Google+ Local is the newest version of Google Places, which integrates the contact information, photos of places you search for on Google or Google Maps, reviews and other details.

4) Google Authorship
Many marketers keep it a habit to write for their company blog, but they miss to have the Google Authorship, which is considered an important element to promote your posts. You can get an Google Authorship if you have a profile on Google+. This means that when your post appears on the search engine results, your picture appears alongside the blog post which you have authored. Research show that about 1/3 of people like to click on those results which have images. Not only does your hard work get promoted, but also you get more clicks for your site.

5) Google+ Communities
Google+ Communities are those places where people gather to discuss on a subject matter. There is no limitation to the number of communities that you could add on your page. You could add plenty of communities and get in touch with like-minded people.
