Penguin 2.0 has been the latest talk of the SEO community since Matt Cutts had announced its release in March. This week, Matt Cutts had also announced that the Penguin 2.0 is going to roll out this Wednesday.
According to the search spam head, it is expected to have a massive effect on web spam. This set of algorithms is going to be brand new. The newest installment of Penguin is going to look at even the minutest details of the website, in contrast to the earlier version, which only targeted the home page.
Matt stated that the new generation of Penguin algorithm was started to roll out on the afternoon of May 22, 2013. He has given a figure of almost 2.3% of English-US queries being affected to such an extent that even a regular user is sure to notice. The change has started taking effect for other languages also on a worldwide basis. Varied languages with more webspam are sure to see more impact.
Matts further stated that as this new version of Penguin is an updated algorithm, it is referred to as Penguin 2.0, not being a mere data refresh. All the webmasters had expected the arrival of Penguin 2.0 during this month after Matt Cutts announced the same early in May.
Matt Cutts had already warned that the new version of Penguin is going to target black hat spam, but will be more impactive as compared to the earlier versions.
Here is the video of Matt Cutts when he stated all we could expect in the coming months from Google:
The whole SEO fraternity is buzzing about the new Penguin update and there would be more information as new about the SERP’s of various sites and also which kind of spam has been worst affected. Also let us know if your websites or a particular way of spamming has been affected.
