A few days ago, we have come across with a Facebook’s new feature named ‘Graph Search‘. Even though its Beta Version is released for US searchers only, it is currently gaining immense popularity as it allows many marketers to increase their reach in the marketplace. Aside from huge response, received from Facebook users, there seems to be lots more going on, with which we are not as familiar.
For now, if anyone does a web search on Facebook, on the left hand-side, the new search results page appears, featuring two-column layout with Bing-powered web results. While on the right hand side, there will be content related to the search from Facebook Pages and apps. This clearly represents that, when a Graph Search is not able to carry a specific query or request within Facebook, it will be Bing to handle the results of both cases. This will really prove to be a great way for those people, who want to search beyond Facebook. They can see web search results from Bing also, coming with additional information and social context.
Along with the search results, we can also see that there are Sponsored Results, likely to originate from Bing. In fact, the very first result we see is listed as Sponsored. This is where the question may arise in mind, have Bing adds made their way to Facebook, if so, will it prove to be productive?
The advertising network of Bing has always faced the biggest problems because of lack of distribution. So, it would be really interesting to see, whether this partnership with Facebook prove to be fruitful for the Bing Advertisers or not, as they are handling 1 billion searches everyday.
There is much more to be discovered and more to get figure out. However, a deal struck between Facebook and Bing for displaying the adds likely get the attention of many advertisers everywhere.
